Mentorship

Women in Wine at UC Davis runs a mentorship program for our students, connecting them to women working in the wine industry.

FAQ for mentors:

What does the program entail?

Recognizing that many have limited experience, the goal of the program is to give students an opportunity to discuss their career goals with you and hear about your experiences. For students with multiple harvests, mentorship focuses on shaping their professional paths as they transition out of academia.

What is the time commitment?

Once paired, mentors and mentees will meet at least twice, with at least one meeting being in person. Students are responsible for working within the schedules of their mentors.

FAQ for students:

Do I need experience in the wine industry to apply?
Nope! Just a passion for the wine industry and a desire to work in it. However, we will only pair you with a mentor once, so if you are early in your time at Davis, you may want to wait until you've taken more classes and gotten more direction to get the most out of this opportunity. DEVO will soon announce a student to student mentorship program that could be a better fit at first.

Do I need to identify as a woman to apply?
Our mentorship program is designed to support individuals who identify as women or belong to historically marginalized gender identities in the wine industry, including but not limited to cisgender women, transgender women, non-binary individuals, and genderqueer individuals. If you feel aligned with the mission of creating a more inclusive and equitable space for underrepresented gender identities in wine, we encourage you to apply.
